Good results for OBB in 2017

OBB has reported good results for 2017. EBT for the holding company increased from €166.2 million in 2016 to €176.3 million in 2017 which is the second best result ever. All three divisions contributed to this result with EBTs of €87 million (passenger), €42 million (freight) and €47 million (infrastructure). The passenger division carried 246 million people (2016: 244 million), the increase being attributed mostly to long distance services. This was due to more trains between Innsbruck and Bregenz and to doubling the Railjet service from Wien Hauptbahnhof to the airport. CEO Andreas Mattha stated that the Nightjet service is also doing well and carried 1.4 million passengers in 2017. A Wien-Wroclaw-Berlin Nightjet will be introduced in December 2018 as well as a new day train from Wien to Berlin via the new HSL with a travel time of seven hours. The results of the tender for new long distance rolling stock will be announced around September 2018.
