Rail line to Split airport proposed

On 16 April construction of a railway line between Split and its airport was proposed. HZ Infrastruktura will lead the working group. The international airport is located 24 km from Split, on the west side of Kastela bay. In 2017 the airport was the second busiest in Croatia after Zagreb, handling around 2.8 million passengers. The number of passengers in the first three months of 2018 was 33.2% up on 2017! A new line is planned to connect Split airport via the future Kopilica intermodal terminal on the Split-Knin single track non-electrified main line to Split station which is located near the city's port. The airport line will be approximately 8.5 km long and will run through the densely populated Kastela area.
