A series of coordinated attacks throughout the country on July 23 shook faith in the government's ability to provide security and raised questions about an al-Qaeda resurgence. Over a matter of hours, bombings and mass shootings struck security forces and government buildings in 13 cities, killing at least 103 people and wounding 200- Iraq's deadliest day this year. In the aftermath of the U.S. withdrawal last December, chaos may be a looming threat for Baghdad's fractured government.
