摘要

The effect of the reagent concentration, solvent polarity and pH on the characteristics of the ultraviolet-visible absorption spectra of 3-[3,4 dimethoxy-5-(3-methylbut-2-enyl) phenyl] 2 propenoic acid was studied. In order to separate the overlapped bands, derivative UV spectrometry was used. The pK_a and log P_(oct) were examined quantitatively. Molecular mechanics calculations were carried out on this reagent. According to the theoretical results obtained the geometry of the compound studied can be predicted. The results of these calculations were compared with experimental data. The 3-[3,4 dimethoxy-5-(3-methylbut-2-enyl) phenyl ] 2 propenoic acid has a good inhibition of lipoxygenases' activity.
