Chasing the Cloud, Part 3 - Migrating Your Users and Data

The paperwork has been finalized and the contract with your cloud vendor has been signed. Your IBM Lotus Domino environment is moving to the cloud. As a manager of collaboration systems, perhaps you've been involved in other projects where users were migrated from one type of email server to another. The move to the cloud will be very similar to those projects. However, you may feel a little less "in control" of what will happen than in previous projects because you won't manage the hardware or operating system in the cloud. Although you are indeed a little less in control in this situation, it's helpful to keep your focus at first on planning, training, and migration — using the skills you already have to manage complex environments. As I will show, you ultimately will be able to adopt some strategies for managing your collaboration system in the new cloud environment.
