Rieter had clearly signposted a developement route with the launch of the IGS Classic cylinder grinding system. This system moves across the card cylinder clothing under automatic control during production. Rieter then presented a ITMA 99 its IGS Top, a grinding system for card flats permanently installed over the returning flats after the flats cleaning unit. Those two systems enable a largely constant carding quality with substantial savings in terms of maintenance efforts and eliminates the risks of clothing damage due to the conventional manual grinding operations.
