The fields of application of elastanne yarns have been extended over the years and elastanne, with its special properties, is now used for a wide range of textile products. The main elastic yarn construction methods are reviewed in detail here: covered yarns with single or double covering, elastic twist, ring twisted yarns, two-for-one twisting, Home/ hollow spindle method, core-spun yarns, SiroSpun yarns and air-covered yarns. Yarn images obtained on an electronic scanning microscope show clearly the structure differences of the yarns produced by different processes and methods. These structure-differences do not allow the undifferentiated use of all yarns in all textile sectors. Thus distinct market segments are identified where yarns obtained by given methods may be usefully applied for ranges of textile products.%Les applications des fils avec élasthanne sont devenues de plus en plus nombreuses, recouvrant aussi bien les vêtements d'extérieur que les bas, la lingerie et les maillots de bain. L'élasthanne offre au consommateur final des articles d'habillement plus confortables, faciles à entretenir et qui gardent leurs dimensions initiales.
