API and Steinbichler Introduce Smart Scan Solution for Large Volume Scanning

API (Automated Precision Inc.) and Steinbichler Optotechnik GmbH have teamed up to create the Smart Scan digitising solution for large volume scanning. Using the latest Comet 5 white light scanner in conjunction with the API Laser Tracker 3, large objects can be digitised both quickly and accurately, without the need for surface reference markers. The Smart Scan solution is aimed at the digitising of large objects or components - i.e. rotor blades for wind turbines; submarine, ship and yacht bodies; large vehicles; aircraft; and aircraft components and assemblies. Any object up to 60 metres in radius from the tracker can be digitised.
