Library update

摘要

Much of the work undertaken by the Institution's members is in maintaining, altering and extending the existing infrastructure. As a result, many of the enquiries that come in to the Library are requests for information on existing structures - how they were built and the codes, systems and products used to build them. An earlier article1 highlighted the range of past codes and standards, building regulations and contemporary textbooks held in the Library. While it is essential to refer to design guidance in the form of building codes and regulations when assessing a structure, the specific information found in the literature on proprietary products used helps us understand how the structure works and what it was built to withstand.
