New warehouse in in the context of a listed industrial area - new building of train wheelset warehouse for SBB repair center in Zurich-Altstetten. A new warehouse for wheelsets was built in 2016-2017 on the site of the SBB repair centre in Zurich-Altstetten. The single-storey structure is located within a historic industrial area and, in addition to its functionality, is also intended to accommodate the site-specific context. The hall has floor plan dimensions of 24.1 m x 53.5 m. A small adjacent hall that is connected to the main hall is also part of the new construction project. The main trusses span the entire width of the hall and are supported on their longitudinal facade by interceptor trusses. These strut trusses span around 26.5 m and rest on six in-situ concrete columns of heights up to 9 m. The horizontal bracing of the hall is primarily achieved by the frame effect of the cast-in-situ concrete columns, which are clamped in single footings. The facade of the unheated and partly open hall is formed by an apron made of perforated sheets. The steel and concrete structure of the hall is an integral part of the visible facade, an artistically designed roof landscape forms a unique finish to its surroundings.
