Obesity: 'blame culture' is easing, but real impact is still to come

Is it me, or has 2004 just been one big blur so far? I cannot believe that we are already half way through the year and that so many issues that are critical for the future growth and prosperity of our industry have come to the forefront. Driven along by the rising concerns about obesity, governments, NGOs and consumer groups around the world are getting ever more active in their calls for solutions to be found. In the UK alone there have been numerous consultations trying to bring all stakeholders together in order to find ways forward, and I am pleased to report that there is definitely a move away from the initial posturing and blame culture to a dialogue focused on identifying the barriers to change and finding solutions.
