It is a time of change in Mogadishu, and Somalis have reason to be optimistic. Commonly described as 'the world's worst failed state', its capital 'the world's most dangerous place', Somalia may soon shrug off such epithets as it progresses out of the long phase of 'transition' to a more permanent political arrangement. The security situation is also improving by the day; Mogadishu, released from daily shelling and gunfire, is now undergoing a transformation as reconstruction and development projects attempt to restore the city's faded grandeur.
