A million images -the public and private face of railway history

The National Railway Museum contains an unrivalled collection of 1.4 million photographs featuring locomotives, rolling stock and railway infrastructure, together with images documenting the social and cultural changes sparked by the transport revolution. The photographs originate from two main sources - official and private photographers.
