Metrolink's £25.7m upgrade confirmed

Government approval for plans to upgrade Manchester Metrolink was given in early-February with confirmation of the last part of an £102million improvements package. A further £25.7m will be invested in the project, which completes the Government's £58m contribution to pay for renovation works along the existing Metrolink system, including upgrading of bridges, cabling and overhead lines as well as junction improvements on the Eccles route.
