Main line freight operator Colas Rail took the highly unusual step of hiring in a Class 52 'Western' for a longdistance freight run in October. A rake of empty china clay tanks had to be moved from Quidhampton, near Salisbury, to Burngullow, on the Great Western Main Line in Cornwall, so Colas called the Diesel Traction Group to see if it was prepared to allow its 1960s-built diesel-hydraulic No. D1015 Western Champion to undertake the move.
