New 'DOR' opens in history of the East Coast Main Line

A company by the name of Directly Operated Railways (DOR) is to take over the running of the East Coast Main Line when the National Express ECML franchise is terminated.rnDOR is the DfT's operator of choice as an interim measure until the franchise can be re-let.rnIt has already taken its first decision, for industry sources understand that the new team will not use the proposed Class 180 'Adelante' DMUs to operate additional services.rnConcerned at the poor reliability of the 180s and the fact that only five sets would be on the fleet, DOR isrnreported to have re-activated NX's original plan to use Mk 3 coaches powered by Class 90 electric locos with a driving van trailer on each rake.
