Medge Hall upgrade complete

A £20million upgrade to a key freight and passenger line has been completed on time after 11 weeks of work.rnThe line - from Scunthorpe to Thorne Junction - re-opened on September 7. It runs through Medge Hall, where the line suffered from subsidence in soft ground and had arn10mph speed restriction. The upgrade has involved the construction of a concrete slab costing £10m and running under the formation, supported by hundreds of piles driven down into solid ground. There were 40 worksites during the possession.
