Container blow for Southampton

A decision by the world's largest container shipping firm, Maersk Line, to switch the majority of its container operations from Southampton to Felixstowe is likely to have serious implications for Freightliner and jobs on the south coast.rnMaersk ships on some of its Asia-Euope routes will switch ports from May, resulting in an immediate ten per cent cut in Southampton's total business.rnThe decision is a reversal of one taken by Maersk as recently as January 2006 to move its operations from Felixstowe to Southampton.
