N7 To Meet N2 For Easter At Gcr

Tank locos will take centre stage at the Great Central Railway over Easter. With contract work on two locos approaching a conclusion, the GCR is hiring North Norfolk Railway-based GER N7 0-6-2T No. 69621 to provide a contrast with the GCR's 2008'Year of Express Engines'.rnGNR N2 No. 69523, which has been undergoing a ten-year overhaul (see separate story) will join the N7 on its first visit to the GCR for the 'tank engine gala'. The Lakeside & Haverthwaite Railway's Fairburn 2-6-4T No. 42085 arrived at the GCR last June for work which has included construction and fitting of new side tanks. The N7 and N2 are thought never to have previously steamed together in preservation.
