Athens Metro Line 3 has opened the line from the Airport as far as Egaleo en route to the eventual destination of Piraeus.rnOn July 23, one of the new Rotem EMUs enters the newly-opened station at Holargos (left).rnOddly, only three days later the Metro company closed Line 1 between two key stations in the Greek capital's city centre.rnThe line between Monastiraki and Attiki was closed to enable track refurbishment and tunnel strengthening to begin. This cuts Line 1 into two sections, with no replacement bus service between them.
