The West Somerset Railway has dropped the 'BR Standards' theme from its March 20-21 and 25-28 'Spring Steam Gala'.rnThe concept was intended to mark GWR175 by making a link with the involvement of Swindon Works in developing the Standard designs.rnThe event was always going to be difficult to achieve, as no BR Standards are based on the WSR, but the line's specialrnevents planning team has reported no nominally-operational Standard locos of the 73XXX, 75XXX or 76XXX types available. The theme has been amended to the 'Standards Era', enabling the use of locos that were in BR service during 1950-1964.
