Flyovers to go ahead at Hitchin, Ipswich, Shaftholme

Network Rail has released further details of its plan to increase East Coast Main Line capacity in the current funding period up to April 2014, writes John Heaton.rnThe construction of a flyover at Hitchin is not only to go ahead, but is to be an even grander structure than first envisaged. It will comprise a long viaduct forming part of a 1.37mile arc, thus avoiding both environmental impact and high-value land as it carries the Cambridge line across ECML metals.
