Personally, I've always liked Preston. It's one of the few large stations left on the network with real railway atmosphere. Not the run-down, rather shabby 'atmosphere' found these days at Crewe and not the overly-clean chocolate box type of atmosphere to be found at York.rnNo, Preston is a happy blend of the two. Beneath its magnificent lofty trainshed is a bustling, spacious station combining the best of the steam age with the bright lights of the 21st century, as the picture below illustrates.
