THE Sittingbourne & Kemsley Light Railway aims to reopen over its full length from Sittingbourne Viaduct station on April 6 next year. After a period when its existence was under threat, the SKLR reopened between Milton Regis (Asda) Halt and Kemsley Down in May. Passenger numbers have been excellent, at around the level of the 2007 season.The final train for this year on September 25 ran beyond Milton Regis Halt over the viaduct up to the gate at Sittingbourne Viaduct station - the first public train on the viaduct since December 26 2008, which at that time looked as though it could be the last SKLR train ever. There will be no Santa trains this year since work is still needed at the viaduct station.
