THE North Norfolk Railway is confident of setting a passenger record this year. Santa trains have yet to run, but most of those are prebooked. Current passenger totals, about 5% up on last year, indicate last year's record mark will easily be topped.In mid-October, ticket sales were 600 ahead of the same point in 2010, due partly to the hugely successful September 2-4 steam gala and September 17-181940s war Weekend. With David Shepherd's 9F No. 92203 Black Prince and GWR 0-6-2T No. 5619 due to receive piston and valve exams, the hire of the Class 4 Preservation Trust Ltd's Hunslet 0-6-0 ST'No. 68030' (HE3777/52) has been extended to provide cover for Santa operations. The loco arrived for the September gala to take the place of Hunslet 0-6-0 ST Ring Haw (HE1982/40) after its tubes finally expired.
