TEETHING troubles with the ERTMS signaling system on the Cambrian lines are said to be so bad that several train drivers are applying for transfers away from the route, writes Phil Marsh. ERTMS (European Rail Traffic Management System) now controls the lines from Shrewsbury to Aberystwyth and Pwllheli, but Arriva Trains Wales operations & safety director Peter Leppard has told a conference that since the system was switched on, performance of right time trains has slumped from more than 90% to just 62%.
