Middlesbrough Goods receives wagonloads of rock salt from Boulby mine, Cleveland, for onward distribution by road. American freight car leaser Nacco provides a fleet of JGA covered hoppers for this traffic. Built in 1998 by Arbel Fauvet Rail, they are being refurbished by Clayton Tankers, of Derby, a company new to wagon repairs. Now being outshopped in all-over blue livery are Nos. NACO 19250-280. W.H.Davis has built 12 HLA aggregate hoppers for DB Schenker at Langwith Junction, Nos. 82 70 6956 000-011. Maximum payload is 75.7 tonnes, gross weight 101.6 tonnes, overall length 16.76 metres and UIC wagon code Fabnps.The unusual design has theTF25 bogies attached to short stub-frames. This allows lorry-mounted conveyors to be positioned underneath the wagons when discharging the load of sea-dredged gravel or sand.
