Bennett order for Lyn replica

The 762 Club, which aims to complete a replica Lynton & Barnstaple Railway Baldwin 2-4-2T Lyn (Southern Railway No. 762) by 2012 [RM Apr), ordered the boiler (from Bennett Boilers of Highbridge) on November 13. The date was significant, being the 75th anniversary of the November 13,1935, auction when the original Lyn (plus three original Manning Wardle locos and the L&B's equipment) was sold for scrap. The project has already built the wooden cab for Lyn and produced the wheel patterns. As yet, the frames have not been produced, but Alan Keef Ltd will erect the loco in due course. The 762 Club has sold 128 (of 350) memberships and components can be sponsored.
