Special RM focus: Alstom's 'Pendolino' overhaul and extension programme

The'Pendolino'H3 overhaul and lengthening programme is getting into its stride at Alstom's Longsight depot in Manchester, with 11 sets back in traffic by early July. The rolling programme will see all 52 nine-car sets overhauled, 31 of which will be extended to 11 cars to match the four new 11 -car sets introduced from June. The overhaul and lengthening process takes two weeks to complete. Two sets are worked on in parallel, with the workload being staggered such that one arrives and one departs every week.
