Bridge fund hits £250,000

The Great Central Railway's Bridge to The Future appeal is a quarter of The way towards its £1 million target. Donations to The appeal passed £250,000 in mid-October, following The insertion of an appeal leaflet in The last issue of The Railway Magazine and our sister title, Heritage Railway (see also page 53). The appeal was launched on June 1. The objective is to hit The £1 m mark by mid-2015 to finance construction of a bridge over The Midland Main Line at Loughborough - a crucial stage in The ambition of reunifying The Great Central Railway and GCR (Nottingham) to create an 18-mile heritage railway between Leicester and The south of Nottingham.
