Dampfspektakel 2014-five days of main line steam

A major public plandampf event - Dampfspektakel 2014 - is being scheduled in western Germany for May 2014. Operations will be centred around Neustadt an der Weinstrasse, south-west of Mannheim. The planned trains start on May 28 and run until June 1,2014. Seven steam locos and six sets of coaches, plus at least one diesel in reserve, will be used. Most Plandampf trains will be available for use by passengers holding valid local tickets (e.g. day tickets such as the Rheinland-Pfalz Ticket).
