Four Metrolink T68s saved from scrapheap

By mid-August, 12 withdrawn Metrolink T68 trams had left Manchester for scrapping at C F Booth's yard in Rotherham. However, four others had been saved as part of the UK Tram test programme. Nos. 1024,1026,1016 and 1022 were moved to join former Midland Metro T69 No. 14 and Blackpool Brush car No. 636 at Long Marston, Warwickshire, where they are pictured on September 2. UK Tram is an umbrella organisation that brings together all parties with an interest in the development of tram operations in the UK, although exactly what the organisation will do with the stored trams is not yet known.
