The Helston Railway's planning application covering its car park at frevano Farm and extension of the line from Trevano to the temporary platform at Prospidnick Halt has been refused. The railway will appeal against the decision and has set up a fighting fund. Securing permission for the car park is crucial to the line's future, this being the only way visitors can reach the railway. Trackbed work on the Helston line started in 2005 and when it opened to passengers in December 2011, access was via what was then Trevano Gardens. Use of Trevano station ceased in 2012 after the Trevano Estate was sold and the gardens closed to the public.
