Great Central carriage shed building for RVP

Railway Vehicle Preservations has ordered the building that will form its new carriage shed at the Great Central Railway's Swithland Sidings. Delivery and erection of the building will follow completion of the foundations, work on which started in March (RM March). An appeal has financed the seeking of planning permission, site clearance and construction of the foundations, but has not yet raised sufficient funds to cover the full £115,000 cost of the building, hence donations are still urgently required. The decision to order the building and see the job through to completion is a calculated risk, requiring use of RVP reserves. However, the shed supplier was prepared to hold the price at that quoted 18 months ago if the order was placed without further delay.
