The Nene Valley Railway will have a USATC S160 2-8-0 to provide steam for the next five years. A deal was agreed with Greg Wilson last year, leading to the start of the overhaul of his S160 No. 5197 at the Churnet Valley Railway in the knowledge there would be work for it (RM Christmas 2013). Progress on No. 5197 has not been as rapid as hoped, and the decision has been made to send his S160 No. 6046, currently operational at the CVR, to Wansford from early April. It will stay at the NVR through the rest of 2014, returning to Cheddleton for the CVR's February 2015 gala. Post-gala, No. 5197 will then take up the NVR hire, covering the remaining four years of the agreement.
