'Thunderbirds'nameplates help raise £5,000 for Alzheimers Society

The auction of two "Thunderbird" nameplates from Virgin Trains Class 57 locomotives has raised more than £4,000 for the Alzheimer's Society. The nameplates - Parker and Tin Tin were sold through The Railway Magazine and produced a remarkably high number of generous bids, particularly for the Parker plate, which is considered rare. An additional contribution from Virgin Trains enabled a cheque for £5,000 to be presented to Jamie Anderson, whose father Gerry was the creator of the popular television programme Thunderbirds.
