Nene Valley Railway-based No. 34081 92 Squadron is on course for a return to action next year following the reuniting of its boiler and frames. Alan Whenman, Battle of Britain Locomotive Society (BBLS) chief mechanical engineer, said: "We have achieved so much from a great group whose commitment has been quite remarkable. Having up to 24 volunteers on daily working parties has made us the envy of other owners/ heritage railways, and we now have working parties on at least three days each week.
