The entire Glasgow Subway system will close for a month next summer to allow modernisation work to be carried out. The circular route will close from the start of the school holidays in late June, during which time a bus replacement service will run. The work will involve preparations for the introduction of driverless trains, including installing glass screens at every platform edge. Ramps and turnouts will also be upgraded on the 40-year-old connections between the depot at Broomloan Road, near Govan, and the Inner and Outer circle lines.
