Those authoritative words belong to Jon Pridmore, someone who has been made partiy responsible for helping to ensure that Britain's steam locomotive boiler-making and maintenance techniques can survive and sustain our heritage railways for decades to come. Jon is training manager for the charity Boiler & Engineering Skills Training Trust (BESST), which began work in the steam preservation sphere in earnest in April last year, thanks partiy to a kick-starter £469,000 grant from the Heritage Lottery Fund (HLF).
