HALF A CENTURY OF RAILWAY PHOTOGRAPHY

There is no doubt that I was born with at least one railway gene since both of my grandfathers, father, mother and two uncles all worked in various capacities for the LNER and British Railways Eastern Region. My earliest recollections are of being taken down to Jumble Lane as a toddler to see all the steam locos on nearby Barnsley shed. This was soon followed with the acquisition of copies of Ian Allan ABCs, which were invaluable for day-spotting trips to Doncaster, Cudworth, Leeds and Sheffield... all made possible by the availability, via my dad, of cheap-privilege-ticket train travel.
