More 'Traxx' for Benelux operators

Dutch Railways (NS) ordered 18 more Class 186 Traxx' multi-system electric locos from Bombardier in June, using options from the original 2013 contract. NS has ordered the new batch of locos with domestic services using HSL-Zuid being planned for expansion in the next two years. In 2014, Bombardier delivered 19 Class 186 Traxx' locos to NS to supplement the leased fleet of Class 186 locos used for Intercity Direct services between Amsterdam and Rotterdam/Breda (via HSL-Zuid). The new locos will be supplied from May 2016, fitted with ETCS Level 2 for use on the HSL-Zuid high-speed line (Schiphol-Rotterdam-Breda/Belgium).
