NATIONAL Infrastructure Commission chairman Lord Adonis was heavily criticised by the railfreight industry after a series of Twitter comments incorrectly blamed daytime freight trains for delays to passenger services. The former Labour Secretary of State for Transport and pro-rail campaigner tweeted on November 22: "Fifteen mins late into Liverpool, stuck behind freight train. Freight on rail during day is hugely disruptive of passenger traffic and also eats up passenger capacity. Big issue!"
