'Saint' 4-6-0 No.2999 Lady of Legend moves around the yard at Didcot Railway Centre during a Timeline evening charter on July 10. Known as glint, the dramatic effect arises from a reflection of the sun bouncing off the locomotive. Using that reflection to its full advantage is challenging but can be highly rewarding, as seen here. Glints occur during the 'magic hour', one hour after sunrise and one hour before sunset. DAVE BOWLES Large trees left and right partially blocking this view of Corfe Castle - including branches and leaves over the castle - have recently been cleared to protect overhead power lines, so this shot is possible for the first time in about 30-plus years.
