Logistik bei der Materialversorgung von Baustellen der DB AG

As part of the system for group-wide permanent way materials procurement for delivery free to site, suppliers needed to establish new supply channels. In order to meet these specific needs, MTL GmbH developed a proprietary logistics plan that has found wide market acceptance. A partially decentralised single-layer organisation, with mission, competence and accountability located wherever possible at the lowest level, enabled the necessary customer proximity to be achieved as a prerequisite for a flexible and repaid response to ongoing building site demands. The work is supported by data-processing systems tailored to the specific requirements. On this basis, MTL GmbH organised over 1,000 materials shipments via rail a month during 1997, chiefly using DB Cargo as carrier, for an annualised freight turnover of almost DM 100 million. MTL thereby made a major contribution to the implementation of DB AG's strategic group procurement policy.%Logistik, abgeleitet von dem griechischen Wort „logos", wurde aus der angelsächsischen Managementlehre übernommen und meint in diesem Zusammenhang alle möglichen oder notwendigen Transport-, Lager- und Umschlagvorgänge des Materials. Das logistische System ist damit ein Flußsystem, das die Produktionsstätten (Hersteller, Lieferanten) und konsumtiven Verbrauchsorte (Baustelle) miteinander verknüpft und den störungsfreien Materialfluß gewährleisten soll.
