The Nova Scotia RCMP Veterans' Association successfully completed its 2nd annual fundraiser for local registered charities in the province by conducting a Vacation Lottery.rnThe Halifax Metro District of Nova Scotia organized a province-wide "Lotto Charity" draw with first prize of a trip to London England; second prize of a cruise to the Caribbean; and third prize of a trip to Las Vegas. Tickets were sold for $ 20.00 each or a book of six for $100.00.rnOver 87% of the tickets were sold by the seven districts in the province. The draw was held at our monthly General Meeting on April 17, 2008.rnAndrew Mumford of Lower Sackville, Nova Scotia won the trip for two to London, England; second prize of a Caribbean cruise went to Julie Stockford of Hartland, New Brunswick; and the third and final prize of a trip to Las Vegas went to Ruth McLea of Fall River, Nova Scotia. All of the trips were for two and included flights from Halifax, accommodations, flight insurance and some extra-curricular activities.rnThe net profits from the lotto amounted to just over $14,000.00. Each of the seven veterans' districts received a cheque for $ 2,000.00 which was distributed among the local registered charities in their respective districts.
