A string of new engine designs and new technologies are currently being tested by Wartsila, MAN Diesel & Turbo, Hitachi Zosen and Mitsui Engineering and Shipbuilding (MES) in an effort to meet stringent new emissions targets due to enter into force from 2015 onwards and to reduce fuel consumption.
