US experience helps LSO decision

As previously highlighted in Warship Technology, building the carriers so they can operate the carrier variant of the Joint Strike Fighter F-35C will mean the UK has increased interoperability with other Allied Forces, but it also requires several design changes.One critical area that is being looked at is the position and design of Landing Signals Officers (LSOs). These naval aviators are specially trained to facilitate safe and efficient movement of aircraft aboard the carriers and they play a key role in keeping operational tempo high.
