The Royal Australian Navy has bolstered its amphibious capability and is taking steps to progress its Future Submarine project whilst addressing serious problems with the Collins class units.The latest addition to the Royal Australian Navy's fleet, HMAS Choules, arrived at its homeport at Fleet Base East in Sydney in December 2011, after being formally commissioned into service in Fremantle.Acquisition of the ship will help ensure that the Royal Australian Navy has the amphibious capability it needs for operations and humanitarian support in the period leading up to the arrival of its new Landing Helicopter Dock (LHD) ships in 2014 and 2015.
