Increased subsea activity is fuelling demand for reliable risers and mooring systems around the world. As observed in our feature this issue (pages 22-27), the growth is at such a level that riser and mooring designers and installers are gaining contracts in new territories, thereby widening their global scope within this niche business. Norway-based mooring spread designer Deep Sea Mooring, for instance, has secured its first contract in African waters, having been assigned to provide all moorings for the 117m loa Maersk Discoverer, whilst also creating a new division, Deep Sea Installation, to provide mooring solutions for the fringe FPSO sector (page 27).
