Survitec launches offshore liferaft range

Survitec Group has unveiled a new davit-launched liferaft, which has been developed primarily for deployment on offshore platforms and /or high freeboard ships. Manufactured at Survitecs French factory in two sizes - an 84kg SOLAS A pack, and 63kg SOLAS B model -each version is capable of accommodating up to eight persons and can be towed, whilst fully laden, at a speed of 3knots without incurring damage. The liferafts are stored in a GRP container, which is connected to a davit and can be swung outboard when inflated and all evacuees are aboard. According to Survitec, the raft then can descend into the sea from any height up to 36m. Each liferaft type has also been fitted with sea anchors on the bottom; these are intended to minimise drift, enabling SAR or passing vessels to pick up as many evacuees in one spot as possible. Additionally, the liferafts have been fitted with dedicated connecting points, enabling them to be towed to a safe location as quickly as possible. The cylindrical container for the A-pack is 1.28m long, while the B-pack's housing comes to 1.16m in length, for easy rack storage.
